St. Margaret Sailing Club was host to some thrilling yacht racing last weekend. 8 yachts raced in the Premier Class. The Beneteau 36.7's raced for their Class Championship and there was good sailing in the Handicap Class. Saturday saw 2 races in 8-12 knots from the Northwest with lots of shifts and puffs. Dance me loose won the day in the Premier class.
In the 36.7 class "Ciao" owned by Philippe Paturel won the first race while Helms Deep owned by Mike Sutton won the second. The handicap class had one long race won by "Night Thoughts" Cal 28 owned by Paul Bezanson.
Sunday provided classic St Margaret conditions with a Sea Breeze from the South West. The crew on "Harrier" with Evan Petley-Jones at the helm sailed nicely and won both races to win the Premier Class. Tom Lawrence skipper of "Dance Me loose" came second.
It was down to the last race for the 36.7's Duck Ciao and Helms Deep, all had a chance to win. Duck got a good start and barely held on to win with Helms deep and Ciao seconds behind. Hula with John Grantmyre at the Helm was fourth. Duck won overall with Ciao in second. Night Thoughts prevailed once again to win the Handicap class overall with Smoke skippered by Carol Gallant second.
