Design and Construction

The first C&C 40 was laid up in late '78. The model was a successful run ending in 1983. Balsa core hull and deck. Shoal draft keel, balance spade rudder. She has a tall sloop rig with double spreaders. This particular boat is the aft cabin model with the enclosed aft cabin to port and aft head to starboard. The boat was designed by C&C design group, headed up by Rob Ball. Pretty to look at and fun to sail.

V-berth forward with storage under and above as well as hanging lockers both to port and starboard. Main salon has L-shaped settee to port with storage outboard and straight settee to starboard. Center line drop leaf table. Aft to starboard is forward facing Nav station with hanging locker aft. Fully aft is large head with sink and shower, lots of storage in vanity. To port is L-shaped galley with Hillerange 3 burner propane stove, Adler/Barbour refrigerator, hot and cold pressure water in sink, lots of storage. Fully aft to port is aft cabin with double berth and seat. The aft cabin has plenty of storage as well as a hanging locker and an ensuite head door. Teak and holly sole throughout recovered cushions in 2003, and 4 opening hatches as well as many opening ports
