A true one-of-a-kind: a custom-modified, single-owner Mirage 30 with a documented history from the factory floor to today.

Restless IV is not just another Mirage 30 — she's a genuinely unique vessel, custom-built in partnership with the Mirage Yachts plant in 1985 and owned by the same family ever since. Designed by celebrated naval architect Robert Perry and built by Mirage Yachts Ltd. of Quebec, the Mirage 30 has long been respected among Canadian sailors as a well-balanced racer-cruiser with a fin keel, internally-mounted spade rudder, and a masthead sloop rig. Restless IV takes that proven design a step further, with custom modifications developed directly with the builder that set her apart from every other Mirage 30 on the water.

At the original owner's request, the Mirage plant fitted this boat with a larger, heavier keel for improved stability and stiffer tracking, added reinforced fiberglass layup in key structural areas for extra strength offshore, and installed a custom baby stay to the rigging for better headstay tension and mast control in a breeze. The result is a stronger, more sure-footed Mirage 30 than the standard production model — a boat engineered by request, not by accident.

Overall length is 30' with a 23'9" waterline, 10'6" beam, and 7,000 lb displacement carried on 3,000 lbs of ballast. Auxiliary power comes from a Yanmar 2GM20F 18 hp diesel turning a two-blade folding prop. Below decks she offers two cabins with double berths, a manual marine head, and a practical galley built around a gimbaled Origo 600 alcohol stove, ice box, and twin stainless sinks — everything needed for comfortable weekend cruising or longer passages along the Northumberland Strait.

The sail inventory reflects a boat set up to actually be sailed: a full main, working jib, storm sails, and blade from Stevens Sails, a 150% genoa from Sobstad, and two spinnakers for downwind work, all carried on an aluminum mast with wire rigging, jackstays, and the custom baby stay. She's equipped with a Ritchie compass, SR Mariner speed log and depth sounder, Standard Horizon VHF, and a Loran C unit — a snapshot of well-kept 1980s offshore electronics, ready for a modern upgrade if the next owner chooses.

What truly sets Restless IV apart is her paper trail: the current owners have retained every original document and piece of correspondence from the original purchase through Ocean Yacht Sales in 1985 to today — a complete, single-owner history that's exceptionally rare to find on a 40-year-old sailboat. She has spent her entire life sailing the waters of Shediac, New Brunswick, cared for by the same hands that commissioned her custom build.

For a sailor looking for a Mirage 30 with more strength, more history, and more character than any other example on the market, Restless IV is a rare find. Contact listing broker Mike Carey at Ocean Yacht Sales to learn more about this one-of-a-kind vessel.
